This journey I’ve been on has been for over a year. Slow and steady pace trying to nail down recipes and baking to perfection. But it’s only been about a month that this thing has taken my priority. A month ago I applied for my LLC, that got money in the game. I’ve then learned so many things, the permits I need, the taxes, how much it costs, and how much I need to charge. I have gone through 2 versions of packaging, 2 versions of my website, over 30 instagram reels, hundreds of conversations, and hundreds of samples.
The question is, am I now ready? I know my next steps. Bulk official packaging, bulk seasonings, bulk lentils. But am I ready to pull the trigger? Do I have confidence that I can properly ship across the country? Do I feel confident that I can produce enough for my many “supposed” customers? How will my roommates feel if I’m blasting the oven 24/7? How will my classes go if I have to fill more and more orders? How will my bank account suffer if I commit and this doesn’t go according to plan? How much more planning do I need? How many more practice batches?
I honestly don’t know the answer to these questions. However, something that is interesting is if I do nothing, then nothing will happen. I might lose a few thousand dollars. Maybe I’ll have a few awkward conversations about how I quit. But in the end the real questions are what do I really want? Do I want to do this? Do I want to commit? Is this really my dream? If the answer to any of these questions are yes then I have to do it. Or else the consequences are far worse than a few thousand dollars. Instead, I might not be happy with myself. I could feel like a disappointment. I would never know what could have happened if I did commit.
So here’s what I’m going to do today. I am going to create a grocery list of the things I need to do. The starting things are, buy seasonings and lentils in bulk. I need to decide what seasonings do I need? Am I going to drop my spicy lentil flavor like I’ve been wanting to? Next I have to get my v2 of my packaging sent off to some real professionals. I need advice. I need guidance. What am I missing? I need to be happy with it before I can print it en masse. I need to figure out shipping. This one has been scaring me for a while. But the moment I do I can easily send people to my website. Have them order there, then I will ship or take it to them. Right now I can only sell person to person, which I’ve been doing in my classes.
That’s it for today! I hope I’m ready enough to do what I really want to do. I want to hear from you, comments should be enabled for you all. I also have instagram (@_Always_Food) which I’m happy to have you messaging in my DMs. You can email me from my website or if you know me personally send me a text. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
